Landed in Abu Dhabi about 7am local time (6 hours behind you all), but out in the middle of nowhere, and had to bus it to the terminal!! From the number of buses I saw, this is a regular occurrence. So who gets off their plane at the terminal??
People on my flight were going to all sorts of places from AD. The couple sitting next to me were going to Turkey for a tour, then to Spain and Portugal for another tour.
The approach to AD was over what looked like hard packed sand, but blocks were marked out, and some had buildings on them. Check out the photos.
Huge sandhill looking mountains were a fair way away from the city, but there were villages in the valleys. How they live and survive in those places is beyond me (no comments). I couldn't see any roads in or out, so I suppose the mode of travel - if they ever left home - was donkey or camel.
My seat on the AD to Paris leg of the flights was 81D. There were only 83 rows altogether!!!
Landed in Paris about 2pm. Sunny, and 15*C. Didn't take long to get through passport control, and I did get a stamp in my passport!
Hotel is very nice. Went for a walk across the...…...Bridge, in one side and out the other. This bridge crosses the Seine River. Took some panoramic photos, but don't have the programme to join them, so you'll have to be satisfied with individual shots.
Dinner in the restaurant at the hotel was delic - seared scallops in blackbean sauce, with a side of …. beans. They were cooked in garlic, the way Amy does them, but not as good as hers! Yummy, just the same!! The two beers weren't bad either!
Some photos to follow, I hope.
More later.

Awesome Mum. Glad you arrived safely. That photo reminds me that I forgot to mention...... watch out for dog poo!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you have arrived safely and have been able to sort out those dodgy Paris taxi drivers. Your hotel looks very luxurious, nice place to relax before you head off for your very busy trip around France. No doubt you'll do lots of walking around the city, the weather looks perfect. Keep up all the info, we do love the commentary and the photos! Love Pam and Vernon
